    Affiliate web hosting enables a website owner to make money by preserving a small amount of space on their page for links to a relevant business or product. The affiliate makes money by taking a percentage commission of any sale that is directed from the affiliate site (usually by recognising a strand of code which traces the origin of the link).

    Affiliate web hosting works primarily because the affiliate’s site will be related in some way to web hosting (for example web design or email marketing), making the visitor more likely to click on the prominently placed link or banner.

    There are two main reasons for saying yes to affiliate web hosting, whether you are a website owner or a company that sells web hosting.

    Firstly, affiliate web hosting is the most cost-effective form of marketing available. Because the web hosting company only spends money when a sale is achieved, its return on investment is always tied to results. Whilst other forms of marketing can reach a wider audience, affiliate web hosting is more selective and therefore the visitors clicking on links are more likely to be interested or engaged in web hosting services.

    Secondly, affiliate web hosting lets website owners make money by doing virtually nothing. Sufficiently smaller businesses or organisations aren’t at risk of losing custom by providing links or banners to other businesses, especially as the product is only related to or similar to the product they themselves are selling, and their role as affiliate is more likely to increase their reputation as a veritable company with profitable contacts.
